MedellínLASIK provides general educational information and a provider-matching service. It does not provide eye examinations, medical advice, diagnosis, prescriptions, surgical candidacy decisions or treatment.
Only an eye-care professional can determine suitability
LASIK and other refractive procedures require an individualized eye examination. The FDA identifies factors such as refractive stability, corneal thickness, tear production, existing eye conditions, medical conditions and medications as issues that may affect suitability or risk.
Refractive surgery has risks and limitations
Potential issues can include dry eye, glare, halos, under- or over-correction, reduced low-contrast vision and rare serious complications. Some patients still need glasses, contact lenses or additional treatment. No result is guaranteed.
Travel adds logistical considerations
If you travel for surgery, ask the treating provider when you may fly, how follow-up will work after you return home, and who will manage complications or urgent questions. Travel timing on this site is planning information, not clearance to fly.
Emergency care
If you develop sudden vision loss, severe or worsening eye pain, significant trauma, or another urgent eye problem, seek prompt professional or emergency care rather than using this website.
